Fire Touched the 9th installment of Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs brought the clash with the fey front and center. We got to meet some new faces, catch up with some old ones, and Baba Yaga. Much like when Coyote gets involved Baba Yaga is also a bit unpredictable but tends to mostly have Mercy’s best interests in hand, mostly.

Without giving away too much I’ll say poor Adam takes a beating or two this time around but they get a lot accomplished. Bran is in the background pulling strings like he does best, even though Mercy doubts him, he never really lets her down. Our new character Aiden may prove to be a great ally and with the pack taking him in they get more and more diverse.

All and all this was pretty action packed with a lot of power shifting going on; this leaves a lot of good plot lines to follow for future books. Anyone who has read this far in the series is sure to enjoy this latest book.

So the part about me having to wait a year+ for the next book, that's a joke right? Jk, this book came out two days ago and I've already read it, I know my mistake.
I really liked this one though it missed all of the lovely Adam and Mercy stuff that I love. I'm curious to see where this leaves all the involved parties in relation to the humans. Should be interesting.
Full review to come later.

Taken for itself it has action, love, monsters and heroes. But this is the book I would give up if we needed to. It has some big feels moments that I just don’t like having big feels over. Ex-wives and complicated family dynamics do not bring out my favorite Mercy. But she is still Mercy, who is my favorite.

Quotes I liked:
“But death isn’t a tragedy to God, only to those left behind.”

I hope Aiden becomes a regular in the series.

I love every book in this series, but this last one was a little disappointing for me. There was a lot of flipfopping all over the place and there wasn't the same kind of ending I had come to expect from the series. The plot seemed to drag on for a lot of the book, then suddenly - BOOM - it was just done all too easily... and I just sat there thinking there had to be more. Also, Mercy didn't even shift ONCE in the entire novel.... I know right... whats up with that?!

All that said, I love Briggs writing style, world and almost all the characters... I guess I was just expecting more. :/
