A new story, twists and turns, kept me interested from beginning to end.

Going into reading this, my expectations were rather low. On the outside, it appears to be just another fantasy novel, following the same path paved by the many books that came before it.
I was absolutely astonished.
This was fantastic! The plot was fast-paced, and interesting. The characters were fresh and believable. I read it in almost a single sitting, and I would sell my soul to be able to complete it again for the first time.
Unfortunately, I was able to see the plot twist coming from miles away, which was slightly disappointing, but that's about my only complaint with the work of literal art that is this piece of literature.

Mythlology, adventure, magic, intricate world building everything you could ever want in a book. The book is based off of a French mythology, Les Dames Blanches. Women in white who lure men and kill them as a sacrifice to their Gods so they may ferry souls and protect the living from evil souls.
The story is told in 3 POVs. Sabine, the loyal and intelligent best friend who seems to not really enjoy being a Leurres (Bone Crier) and gets upset when an animal is killed. Ailesse is next in line to be Matrone, following her mother's footsteps. She does everything she can for her mother's approval. Bastian, Ailesse's soulmate, is out for revenge to kill the Bone Criers for murdering his father, along with 2 siblings who have also lost their father to a Bone Crier.
Sabine feels extreme guilt for not being able to protect her best friend. She tries to be as brave as Ailesse and is willing to do anything to save her friend. Ailesse is held captive and tries to escape, while Bastian fights the pull and possible feelings towards Ailesse. Sabine makes shocking discoveries and takes matters into her own hands, with the sole purpose to save Ailesse.
Highly recommend, I can't wait for the sequel.

The book was good. Personally didn’t like Sabine’s parts but that’s just me.
