If you had to put together a list of the 100 most well known English poems then a lot of the poems in this book would make the list. I thought the section of biographical notes in the back was especially well done. So if that's what you're looking for then 4 stars, solid little anthology.

This anthology contains selections from many different historical eras so if you're primarily looking for newer or more undiscovered work then this isn't the anthology for you. And this definitely isn't "poetry out loud" in the vein of open mic slam poetry or anything like that. This book has poets like William Blake, Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, etc.
