The version I read was the "movie cover" version that had been renamed to Slumdog Millionaire after the movie. This book is nothing like the movie! It's more like loosely based rather than a direct adaptation and it certainly doesn't need to be rereleased with a movie cover. The basic premise of a lowly orphan boy winning on the game show because he knows all the answers from the experiences in his life is the same, but that's it. The life experiences and questions are all mostly different. The book was fine as a stand-alone novel. It's just silly that the name was changed to go along with the movie that's hardly the same story.

Hey man, its okay. I didn't love it, but i was certainly moved by it and it kept my attention well. cool book cool characters

I picked up this book because I enjoyed the movie Slumdog Millionaire. I will say it is pretty different from the movie so I enjoyed it on that level because I wasn't always sure what would happen next. I found the writing a bit clunky and because each chapter jumped in time and place it was a bit disorienting until about halfway through when you started to piece together what was happening. I did like this book, but I really didn't love it.

At the risk of sounding totally juvenile and ignorant: this is nothing like the film "Slumdog Millionaire"

The only thing that links the two is the name of the main character so if you go to read this hoping to find out more about the relationships the three children have over their lives and the love story etc. don't.

The question and answer structure made for a light and interesting read with each chapter being a story of its own. At times I struggled with the shift in time but that may have just been me not paying enough attention.

Alike "The White Tiger" by Aravind Adiga, it seems as if Swarup is trying to cram as many of India's problems into a short novel which is great for an A-level exam centered around context but not so much in the world of literature.

Swarup has obviously done his research which I applaud him for and I did find that I was pleasantly surprised with the novel and how it concluded.

An enjoyable read, not an extraordinary one.

skip the book, watch the film.

Nice book. Ram Mohammad Thomas, memenangkan 1 miliar rupee justru karena nasib yang dia alami dalam menghidupi kerasnya hidup. Realita yang digambarkan oleh Swarup tentang soasialita India begitu hidup.
