MFC is running from powerful abusive husband. MMC isn’t mean, but is cold and mistrusting in the beginning. He ends up being protective teddy bear in the end.
The side characters were also funny and sweet.

UNperfect

This was a brilliant story!

Very emotional and might be a trigger as it relates to domestic abuse. Overall the story was well written.

5/5 for me, I fell in the Tate pit so I’m defo looking forward to more stories from her.

I really like this book, and unworthy and limits, which feature a lot of the same characters. They all require a bit of work because they all cover some emotionally difficult ground, but they all have endings that are worth it. And the benefit of books like this include helping people work through their own emotional messes and giving hope for better endings.
But down to specifics. Gruff and grumpy cinnamon roll hero, flighty heroine finding her way out of a tough situation, found family, short circuit references, people being people but in that slightly better than reality way that books can have.

She’s damaged, running from her past and adopting a new alias. Forced to live on  the streets, she strikes lucky, securing a job as IT helper in an architect firm.
She falls for her grumpy boss who slowly restores her trust in men again. You can see the progress as she changes from being scared and anxious all the time to more confident.
The chemistry between the two was fire. Writing was fantastic. Only issue was the story didn’t satisfy me. Also he kept popping up out of nowhere all the time.
It was great for Amelia to have support people in the form of Jaz and Verity, as well as Tedd and Heath.

An emotional read but the sweetest slow burn romance.

I thought so many of the characters in this book were great especially Mia and Max.
And I loved how the romance between them both wasn’t instant. Mia having been on the run from her abusive husband is frail, scared and underweight with a lot of trauma on her shoulders. Max is grouchy, straight to the point, big ol’ brute and fears he’ll be left again. It was an emotional and heart warming rollercoaster with their relationship but I’m so pleased they got their happily ever after and Mia got some small justice for what she had been through.

And it was lovely to see Max’s friends and family take Mia under their wing and love her just as much as what Max did.
