I've had this on my kindle for awhile and decided to read it since I have some free reading time. It is something of a YA book since the main character is 15/16. It is enjoyable and Robin learns a lot about herself, her family and what family really means.

Never have I read a story so unique and captivating as Robin in the Hood! The characters were quirky and some outrageous and I loved every second of it.

At first I had no idea what to expect when a rich privileged girl finds her family broke and breaks her father out of the hospital to keep from being sent away. I was thinking maybe this story would follow the usual rags to riches storyline but then it turned into something totally unexpected. Robin finds herself in a trailer park with a cast of colorful characters and finds she may actually have roots there. As she longs to find out about her family's past she finds herself and love in the process. She may have also found herself becoming a thief. WHAT?!!! But with the beautiful bad boy with a heart of gold, Creek leading the way, I can't blame her for doing some crazy things.

Reed's writing has a mysterious & mystical aspect that left me with the feeling of wonder and intrigue page after page. I simply cannot wait to read the next book in this enchanting YA series.

"Wait, what do I do?"
"You git on a helmet honey!" crackled a voice in the darkness. Granny Tinker appeared next to us with a pot on her head. She shoved one onto mine. "This here's WAR."

After her father has a heart attack, Robin quickly discovers they have no money and both the mob and the police are after them. She steals a Mazda Miata and runs with her father finally ending up at a trailer park inhabited by a loveable group of misfits and miscreants.

While there she discovers something like a family and gradually starts to rebuild her relationship with her father, but her new family need her help and she joins with Creek to take some money from the rich and hand it out to the poor.

Robin in the Hood is great fun. It's a retelling of the Robin Hood story with a completely crazy bunch of merry men. Everyone from a psychic grandma, to a couple of brothers appropriately called the TNT twins. I loved this book on so many levels, it's light and fluffy Young Adult fiction with a healthy dose of magic.

❀♣✰An enchanted and a magical read✰♣❀

Robin in the Hood was a story about dreams, love, family and magic. This book was amazingly written and I was hooked from the very beginning. It contained all the elements that would grasp and captivate a reader.
The characters were scintillating and lovable. The plot was twisty with secrets, adventures and magic. I loved everything about Robin in the Hood. What is not there not love?

Meet Robin

"No one had ever accused me of having a heart before. How could Creek see something in me that I'd never even admitted to myself?"

Robin McArthur had everything in her life. She had money that could buy her anything in the world but not the one thing she desired the most; love.
And all of a sudden, her life is turned upside down when her father suffered a stroke. Money was evaporating slowly due to her dad's countless debts and Robin has no idea what to do when more debt collectors seek her for money.
“Is it any wonder I became a bank robber?” said Robin.
Desperate times calls desperate measures.

And so began her life as a robber. Robin and her father flee from their money - ridden lives and ended up in an enchanted forest were family, love and loyalty were given utmost importance. There Robin learned many things. One of which was forgiveness.

Robin is a total kickass protagonist. Robin is often very inquisitive and impulsive in nature. I found her to be very lovable. She never lost hope in desperate times and was loyal to her father no matter how many lies he'd disguised as truths.
She was strong and unyielding.
On the whole, she was an outstanding female lead with badass Geisha skills.

Meet Creek

"Creek, who'd single-handedly taught me how to value simple things. And most of all, who'd showed me that true wealth was found in people's hearts, not in their pocketbooks."

Creek was strange, dangerous and beautiful. He was the one who taunted Robin to rob a bank. He was the one who taught Robin how to love and forgive. He was the one who changed her life into a magical one.
Creek was also known as Turtle Shores 'Angel' because he made sure everyone was content and happy at Turtle Shores. He was a true Robin Hood; stealing money from the rich and handing it to the poor.

Soon Robin joined Creek and they formed a team and robbed many more banks in order to help the people in Turtle Shores whom Robin grew to love dearly. They formed the awesome dynamic duo.
And then, they fell in love.

"Never betray your real feelings.
Except when you truly fall in love."

"We're partners of the heart, Robin. That's all."

Overall, this book was remarkable. It took me on a splendid adventure and taught me many great things. It also made me believe in magic and miracles. Join Robin's fascinating journey and get carried away into an enchanted magical world where anything is possible.

"Because there's a little magic - and outlaw - in all of us..."

Cover Thoughts-
It is a very enticing cover. I love how it includes a feather that Robin and Creek use for good luck or to reach out to her mom. Although, I thought the feather was white I still think the vibrant yellow makes the cover stand out. The girl looks beautiful and I can't believe she would fit in a trailer park full of crazy people.

First Thought-
I knew from the start that this series was gonna be very different from most young adult literature I usually read. It's something more original that today's usual paranormal romance, fantasy, or contemporary romance.

Review-
I would like to start by saying Robin in the Hood is a delicate balance between grieving of loss, of having your life flipped upside down and happiness of being part of a family and discovering who you really are. I spent a whole night changing between laughing and crying. Robin is very brave and hilarious. She reacts to her sudden life change humorously and begins to bond with her father. She challenges a stranger to robbing a place (she didn't technically steal the money), and then he steals her money and probably her heart. You can't help but laugh at that.
Robin in the Hood is oddly spiritual. Granny Tinker, a very strange old lady, scares Robin at first but ultimately the old lady is who helps guide her on her journey through love and discovering herself. With the help of Granny's crystal ball and Creek's white feathers Robin finally learns who she really is and where she comes from.
Robin in the Hood is a funny mix between Robin Hood and Bonnie & Clyde. The characters are all unique with their own distinct personalities. It's impossible not to bond with them. I would rob a bank for Robin and Creek's trailer park family too.
I have some questions about some parts of the book though. Mostly, I really want to know more about Robin's father's journey to riches. How did he go from that trailer park to having Swiss bank accounts? The suspense of what happen to Robin's mother is killing me. How is Robin able to connect with her spiritually if she never met her? (Please don't be dead) How does Robin so easily accept these people when she started as a "rich bitch"? Robin's personality seems far from what I would expect of someone who has everything and then loses it all.
It doesn't matter though because Robin is unique. Her voice is something I could read all day. I feel her fear, her curiosity, her grief, her joy, and her love/loyalty for her new family. What a magical ride this book has been.

Overall Readability-
This is a great read for someone looking for something a little different than your usual fantasy or romance. It's fun, unique, and you never suspect whats going to happen next.

My Final Thought-
That was probably my fastest google for the rest of series ever. There's 3! I really want to know if Robin finds her mom and if her and Creek's love prevails over money greed.

I Received A Complimentary Copy of This Book From The Author In Exchange For My Honest Review!!

This book is the first book in the Robbin' Hearts series and it amazed me. Right from the beginning I was pulled into Robin's story. At first I felt sorry for her with everything she's going through. Her dad having a stroke, crimes against her dad, running with her dad (a man who's never shown her an ounce of love), to becoming a criminal. Then I realized as I was reading that it's the best thing that's ever happened to her.

Robin has never known love and honestly I don't think she's capable of loving in return because of it until everything turns upside down. She soon finds herself in Turtle Shores by Bender Lake a community for criminals. A place she discovers that isn't unknown of to her dad...in fact he seems to know them pretty well.

With the help of some crazy people and a handsome teenage stalker boy named Creek it isn't long until Robin learns to open her heart and discover what it is to love. Follow Robin and Creek as they discover secrets about Robin's past while trying to take care of the ones they love.

A wonderful story that will captivate the reader from beginning to end. You will find yourself wondering just how many secrets can one person keep and while routing for the underdogs. A definite must read that I will be reading again for sure. I strongly recommend checking this book out along with Stone of Thieves the second book in the series.

Diane you amaze me with your skills when it comes to telling a story. I can't wait to see where all you take us with Robin and Creek's story. One thing I do know for sure is that there's bound to be excitement and some criminal activity involved.

The opening chapter of this book will hook you in!

Robin is definitely not used to living the way the people at Turtle Shores do. It becomes quite an adjustment for her, but one that she makes pretty well. She may even like the group that she now lives among. I love that Robin begins to learn that there is more to life than what you can buy, and how expensive it is. She learns to appreciate the small things.

Creek is a good guy. He does some crazy things sometimes, but it’s all to help those he cares about. I also like that he is able to bring Robin out of her shell, and show her how amazing things are even when there is no money to be had.

The romance is a little fast, but it is still believable. The characters are young, and sometimes intense situations bring out your emotions faster than any other time. The ways these two get themselves into trouble is insane. They definitely have luck on their side.

Overall, I loved it. There is even a hint at something magical, and I really hope to find out more in the next books.
