Perfection

I went into this book with both anticipation and trepidation. I loved Garden Spells so much, and I didn't know if the sequel could live up to that adoration.

But it does.

Claire and Sydney still struggle. Bay is 15 and negotiating everything that goes with being a Waverley and a teenager. I found myself realizing how much I'd missed these characters, and Sarah Addison Allen gave readers the chance to love them again.

First Frost by Sarah Addison Allen is tFirst Frost by Sarah Addison Allen is the continuation of Garden Spells. Ten years have passed since Garden Spells ended. Clare has married Tyler and they have a daughter, Mariah. Sydney and Henry have married and Henry has adopted Bay. Clare has started a candy company called Waverly Candies which has become quite popular thanks to a magazine article. Bay has entered high school and fallen in love. However, the first frost is coming up soon and it is a stressful time for the Waverly girls. They always get a little frazzled and out of sorts before the first frost of the season when the apple tree will bloom again. Read First Frost and enjoy the reading about the lives of the Waverly’s.

I love Sarah Addison Allen’s books and First Frost was no exception. It was a delightful story to read and I did not want it to end. I am glad that the author gave us another book about the Waverly’s. The sad part is that we have to wait at least another year for a new book by Sarah Addison Allen!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley/Publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This was a pleasant book to read. I would put it in the category of "summer read". A somewhat predictable story that still kept my attention.

I really loved this. Every time I read a book by this author, I just enjoy it so much, and then for some reason I don't pick up another book from her by awhile. Her writing is just lovely. This is a book I'd like to have in my collection.
