This the first all out Sc-FI book that I've read. It's a great story filled with deception, violence, politics, prophecies and great characters with great dialogue. The writing is stellar, and the story never gets boring.

Have a read, you'll dig it if you're into Sci-Fi :)

This book inspired me. Bear experienced some major setbacks, but he managed to overcome them and allow them to make him better. His description of his Everest climb captured the emotional commitment needed to climb the world's tallest mountain better than most accounts that I have read. I enjoyed the book a lot.

Interesting book. Reads like he is actually talking to you which is refreshing. Really enjoyed the quote from his grand-dad.

i read the abridged version many times as a kid, so i thought it was past time to read the original book. it was interesting to discover new things that weren’t in the abridged version. it reawakened my interest in the 1996 mount everest disaster.
