I’ve watched the entire anime (all of what is out, at least) and this was still an interesting reintroduction for me. It helps that I have that initial experience. I can imagine that this would be harder to get into without it. I already have the second light novel and I look forward to getting a more complete understanding of the story.

Read this out of obligation, not personal interest. The writing is juvenile and tells instead of shows. The objectification of women and power fantasy is painfully blatant. The worldbuilding and general plot is interesting, but bogged down by explanations and internal monologs.
