I went in expecting a fantasy-videogame isekai, and that's pretty much what this is, but my major issues stem from sexualizing a minor, justifying a character's manipulated state of being, and characters being crassly attracted to the protagonist. These elements push the book from escapist wish fulfillment to gross exaggeration. Not for me at all.

Ich kannte bereits den Anime, der mir sehr gefallen hat, drum habe ich mir auch die Light Novel gegönnt. Wie viele Light Novels hatte auch Overlord jetzt nicht die spannendste Story, aber sie war im Gegensatz zu anderen LNs dennoch interessant genug, daß es mich gut unterhalten hat.

I've seen some of the anime so when I found the light novels at the library I thought I'd give them a try. These editions are beautifully done, with a nice font, color illustrations and a foldout color spread/map in the front. The story is good - besides the discoveries made in-world there is a lot of inner dialogue with Momonga/Ainz thinking about what this world meant to him, his role in it, and how he can apply his real-world knowledge to his current situation. There are also interludes where you get to see how his guild's creations (Albedo, Demiurge, the twins etc) are reacting to Ainz's actions, without him present. I can't remember if the show does that or not.
