Succeeded in giving Stalin a personality through the use of first and second hand sources. And provided an informative and gripping recount of Russian politics in the early 20th century. However, I can't help but feel the author speculated at every chance given to him which makes the level of bias unclear.

Garbage that tries to misinterpret and continues with the disinformation about Stalin from a populist author (not even a historIan). Written at the Height of Western pillaging of Russia

People need to know that most documents regarding Stalin are still classified as at 2019 and most claims made by this idiot author and the likes of Conquest dont stand up to critical Historical analysis.

Excellent biography of Stalin. The prose and text is exciting and interesting, I learned a lot about Stalin's early years that I had no prior knowledge of.

Határozottan érdekes könyv volt ez, annak ellenére is, hogy bizony akadtak vele problémáim. Egy ponton majdnem félbe is hagytam. Egyrészt a hangvétele zavaróan szenzációhajhász, vagy ahogy előttem megfogalmazták: bulváros. Gyakran elég vad következtetései, vagyis inkább spekulációi vannak, amelyeknél csak pislogtam, hogy mi alapján sikerült levonni ezeket. A forráshasználata kicsit aggályos, bár nekem nincs azzal bajom, ha egy szerző nem használ lábjegyzeteket, nekem bőven elég, ha a könyv végén van egy felsorolás, de akkor abban legyen következetes. Radzinszkij időnként használja a lábjegyzeteket, aztán meg nem, ami enyhén szólva is furcsa megoldás.
Szóval szerintem ez a könyv az objektív, hiteles történetírástól elég messze van. Egynek elment, de ennyi.

holy shit, this is a good book. stalin is more evil and brilliant than i could have possibly imagined.
