I absolutely adored this series. However, being that I five starred the first two books in the series, I found myself perplexed as to why I wanted to click four stars rather than five. In the end, I felt it was necessary due to the fact that in the beginning of the book, I felt stressed and completely thrown in to a different story. I suppose this is a good thing, seeing as that is Janie's main emotion, but I felt it so much that I almost didn't continue. However, I pushed through and by the end I felt comforted and quite pleased with the series as a whole. The writing is modern and innovative, though it's not for everybody, and had me flipping pages non stop.
DNF. too boring and I don’t remember what happened in the previous two books. Maybe it’s because I stared this series when I was young and I’ve outgrown it? Anyway, I only got to pg 12.
I started this trilogy, back earlier this week. Gone, is the last book of the series.
Background info:
Gone is the third book of the Dream Catcher trilogy. Wake and Fade are the first two.
Janie is conflicted, live a life of eventual blindness and gnarled hands, or live a life of total isolation, until her brain eventually explodes. Janie is in a traditional Morton's Fork. (Morton's Fork is continuously mentioned throughout the story.)
My Thoughts: (spoiler free)
- I feel that that the author did a good job ending the trilogy. Most trilogies or series I read leave me either utterly confused, annoyed that they ended abruptly or mad that the author didn't tie up all the lose ends that occurred throughout the story. Lisa McMann does a good job at making sure nothing is left hanging.
- The reason I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars was because (like most stories I have read lately, hmmm strange) the author repeatedly told a chapter where the event in the chapter would almost exactly mirror a (with a few minor details changed) previous chapter. This happened I'd say 3-5 times or so.
- I didn't like how Lisa McMann changed Cabel from being an actual character like in books 1 & 2, to more of like a servant or puppy dog to Janie in this third and final installment, it was quite annoying.
Would I recommend this book?
None the less I still enjoyed it, it didn't pull at my heartstrings like most trilogies do, (usually at the end of the last book I'm not ready for the story to end, this one not so much so) but I do recommend reading this last book to see how things turn out for Janie. :)

Loved it!! It was a great book want to learn more and the meaning of it all.
kind of disappointing, the first two books were so full of action that i couldn't wait to find out what happened in the end, but mostly the whole book revolves around janie making a decision. I get why this book had to happen and it ended the series well, but it was kinda hard to have to sit through over 200 pages for her to nake one decision. ( u should still read it if you've read the rest of the books in the series)
it wasnt great, but it also wasnt terrible. could have had a little more excitement. the ending did make me smile though. i was happy with Janie's choice and what she ended up doing at the very end.
The last book in the Wake trilogy. It’s now or never. Janie has to decide what kind of life she wants to live. Only she’s faced with a different option this time. Her dad gets thrown in the mix. Never knowing him finds out he is just like her, only she wishes she had more time with him. Now its up to her to figure out how she wants to live her life. It was a good way to end the series, though it could have been done a bit better. Overall the series was very compelling and drew you in because the subject matter was so different then anything you’ve ever read before.
Un final un poco flojo :S
Es el que menos me ha gustado de los tres.
