I gave Lisa McMann's "Gone" the last book in her WAKE trilogy 4 stars because it was as well written as the first two installments. However, on a personal note, I enjoyed this book the least of the three. I found the subject matter much heavier, which is where the story was headed and needed to go... but I believe I personally was looking for a bit lighter reading material. Did I like the book? Yes. Will I like it even better when I reread it at a later date? Most likely. Would I recommend it and the series? Absolutely! Read McMann's series, get to know and respect Janie and Cabel, they are characters worth knowing.
This is the third and final installment of the Wake trilogy. At the beginning of this book, Janie is dealing with the ramifications of what happened in book 2. They're done with high school and decided to spend a week at a cabin with Cabe's brother and wife. A couple of days into the trip, Janie gets a frantic phone call from Carrie regarding Janie's mother. From there, Janie is confronted with her past and who she is. And she has to make the tough decision regarding her future as a dreamcatcher and her future with Cabe.
I hate to say this but Gone was kind of a let down. Fade ended with Janie deciding that her fate is to be a dreamcatcher and that her future with Cabe is up in the air. Gone follows that same pattern. There was no crime to solve or the introduction of new or old characters. We do find out more about Janie's mother's relationship with Janie's father. But other than that, the majority of the book was about Janie wrestling with the decision regarding her future and Cabe. I thought she'd made that decision in Book 2? What kept me reading was the desire to find out if that decision had changed. And it did. For like 5 minutes. I know that since this is the final book that things needed to be "wrapped up". But I would have liked it if this book was more like the first two. I still enjoyed it and hate that this trilogy has come to an end.

This series has grown to become one of my favorites. The love story throughout the series is beautifully written; there are times of hardship and times of happiness. The third and final installment to this series had a satisfying ending that didn't disappoint.
I really liked Gone. It didn't suck me in like [b:Wake|1661957|Wake (Dream Catcher, #1)|Lisa McMann|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/414cikykprL._SL75_.jpg|1656772] and [b:Fade|3657138|Fade (Dream Catcher, #2)|Lisa McMann|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/21ZyKkDhoDL._SL75_.jpg|3700340] did but I still really enjoyed it. Gone was much more about Janie deciding what to do with her dream catching abilities so there wasn't much interaction with others, which is what I think I missed. I still I think that [a:Lisa McMann|767547|Lisa McMann|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1186601256p2/767547.jpg] did a fabulous job wrapping up the series.
I wouldn't mind another book though... I miss Cabel already ;)

i actually didn’t remember a lot about what happened in this even though i’ve read it multiple times before. it’s really not as bad as some people have said. it’s a little more internalized but i get. janie had a big choice to make and she had a whole journey she had to go on by herself to figure out the choice she was going to make on how to live her life. i get how the internalization wasn’t for everyone, but it’s really a fitting ending for how the whole series was. really glad i picked up this series again.
Well, that's that. This series was just an "okay" for me. I liked it enough to finish all three books, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it very highly. I think the biggest barrier to me liking it more was something about Janie's character. She was so gruff and constantly pushing away the people who wanted to help her...
Oh well. The concept of this book was interesting, and it gave a few explanations as well as a good wrap-up for what will happen with Janie and Cabel. So, if you liked the first two, I'm sure Gone will appeal to you as well.

so first of all I hated the beginning of this book and the end and some of the middle. I wanted to love the whole thing I wanted to finish and feel relieved it was all going to be somewhat alright to Janie. However I found myself disliking Janie within the first chapter. and she is so darn easy to love. I was OK but not OK with the ending of this book/trilogy I hate that there was basically an ultimatum and then not one and then there it was again. I wouldn't recommend it as a stand alone or if this is where you want to start with this author. start at the beginning, fall in love and do it right.
