love, love, love this book. You can't beat Colin as the perfect British hero.
A wonderful tale. The characters are all complex and a bundle of relationships are shown. All this really adds up to make a beautiful story. I liked how Sugar Beth and Colin weren't afraid to show themselves and who they are. They were fairly honest people and there was barely any scope for miscommunication which I really enjoyed

A fun book with amusing characters. I really enjoyed reading this book.
I just felt bad for sugar Beth. I hated Winnie. I didn’t care about Winnie and Ryan’s relationship. I also didn’t feel any sparks or connections between the main characters. One of my least favorite SEP books

I don’t know what to say about this book. I went in with high expectations.
On the one hand, I did like the prose and dialogue. And that’s a high compliment from me because there’s not a lot of good prose and dialogue in romance, believe it or not.
On the other hand… there were so many things wrong with this book I don’t even know where to start. I don’t even think I can list them off here one by one because it left such a bitter taste in my mouth. I managed to finish this book because I was hoping the story would get better but it just … did not. Until the end.

francis "sugar beth"* carey, whose 3rd marriage has recently ended with the death of her older husband, has returned to her hometown, broke and with her tail between her legs. her grand family home is now inhabited by her former high school english teacher, collin, whose career she ruined. her high school boyfriend is now married to her estranged half sister, winnie, who sugar beth gleefully tormented all throughout their younger years. will sugar beth ever be welcomed home again?
(of course she will.)
*gross.
as with other romances i've read, the cheesy attempt at humor made me a little crazy. why does there always have to be a farting basset hound or a group of adorable giggling children? if i was reading this in print i'm not certain i would have finished, but as summertime car entertainment, it was perfectly adequate.
