Amazing. Like if Naomi Klein wrote Lord of the Flies.

I thought the premise of this book was fascinating and the plot kept me intrigued throughout. I also felt the book was attempting to do an AWFUL lot and that it occasionally read as cheesy, over done and sometimes predictable, but being a young adult novel I can kind of over look the predictable aspects. All in all, I think it was a very funny and satirical look at the commercialism and typical coming of age issues that young girls are faced with, in the midst of a very atypical story.

Delightful! The satire bludgeons you over the head much like an airline lunch tray, which makes the tender moments so much more tender. Very witty

i found it hard to get into at first because i'd just binge read a ton of new adult so picking this up was a complete 180 but it was the BEST 180 EVER this book rocks i can't believe it took me until about halfway through to really get into it - it's definitely one i'll reread and one i'd recommend to EVERYONE I KNOW SO PICK IT UP RIGHT NOW

Beauty Queens was completely and totally different from anything I've ever read before. And I loved every minute of it. Bray has a way of coming up with this crazy ideas and making every word believable.

This cliff notes about outrages products and the commercial breaks were my favorite! Some of them had me busting out laughing. My favorite by far was the Maxi-Pad Pets. Pads. In the shapes of animals. Bahahaha.

There was some pretty obvious social commentary in this book. But it was done in a fun and non-preaching way. And it was pretty spot on. This whole book was all about the GIRL POWER. And I ate it up!

Adina was definitely my favorite of the girls. She was the one from the get go who thought beauty pageants were outdated and degrading, which I agreed with. But it was so fun watching these girl's figure out who they really were. Honestly, I just loved this entire book.

I cannot wait for the next book by Bray. I will pick up anything she's written. Anything.

Entertaining and off-beat in a Christopher Moore-esque way.
