anne rice is seriously on another PLANET. she has so many ideas and she's flinging each and every one of them at us to see what's going to happen. she puts so much into this universe it's insane. the characters are off the wall and, as we know, characters are my favorite part of anything. i love hearing lestat's side of things and i'm enjoying the expansion of the vampire world even more than i anticipated. lestat really is just a desperate queer trying to make friends and be a demon all at the same time. whom among us can't respect him for it. and now two of his great lovers (louis and his mom) are hanging with him at once. and everyone is pissed because lestat immediately broke all the vampire rules. gotta love it. massive book with lots to say! thanks anne!

Even better than the first one, mostly because Lestat is a far more interesting protagonist than Louis was. I truly feel like I read through an entire lifetime with this book, and even though it was exhausting, I enjoyed it in the end and plan on reading more.
