Everything Sin writes is beautiful. It was too difficult to not devour in one sitting.

I found this a great struggle to finish reading it straight through. It was 400 some poems that sounded like the exact same thing. While I can see this being uplifting for others, it didn't do anything for me.

Reading poetry books when you’re hurting on the inside is the best form of therapy. I loved this book. Most of these are thoughts more than poems, but each and every single word were somewhat relatable. They were assuring, and comforting, while also calling out your mistakes that sometimes need to be acknowledged by yourself. Looking forward to read more poetry books in the near future.

I liked some of them though I found myself struggling to get past through because it felt repetitive. I felt like some of his poems from his past works are just replaced with different words. I am thankful for encouragements and reminders to keep fighting though.

Also this was published on my birthday so hey. Totally irrelevant I know.

I’ve heard people say that a “word salad” is the collection of many thoughts and words presented in a jumble of confusion with no real direction or meaning behind them. That would probably be too high of praise for this book. This is more like the excrement flushed away after someone consumed a word salad. I spent some time judging this authors books when I’d see them in Walmart on clearance or at the dollar store, but when I saw one on clearance at a thrift store for 10 cents, I figured, maybe I’ve been too harsh. Maybe there is some depth here. So I forked over my dime and took this home. It took me 2 days to read because of how empty each page is, and when I say empty, I’m not just talking about the margins. The words Sin writes are devoid of any depth at all. He glorifies mental illness constantly, showing how little of an understanding he has over it, he speaks extraordinarily high of himself and his work even though the his words are barely shards of advice let alone poetry, and worst of all, he isn’t as virtuous as he thinks he is, especially when it comes to women empowerment. Sin says many positive things about women in this book, however he speaks about them as if they were sad puppies trapped in cages in an inhumane shelter. He speaks of them as if they must be rescued and he’s the only one who can do it which ironically dismantles any positive message about women empowerment that he tries to convey. He has no self awareness at all. I’ve seen more chivalry by incels in Reddit comments than I see anywhere in this book. I’m sure his writing has done well on tumblr but in the literary world, his writing is nauseating and laughable at the same time (and I mean those things literally, nauseating and laughable). I could go on, the frustration I feel over this author is crazy. DON’T BUY THIS GARBAGE. If you’re a woman, you don’t need this loser. I only spent a dime on this book and boy do I wish I could get that dime back. I’m just glad, that when I paid for it, the money went to the thrift store and not him.

TLDR: Bad book, thinks lowly about women but disguises it as virtue, glorifies mental illness, self-centred in his writing, extremely confident but has nothing to show for it. HORRIBLE.

This was very shallow poetry, if you could even call it poetry.

If i read this when i was younger i probably would've eaten this up, and i'm pretty sure i read some of his work when i was young and liked it.

Were there some poems i could relate to and that i enjoyed annotating? Yes. does that make them good poems? No.

Most poems
were written
like this
and are mostly
basic quotes
and sentences

Some poems were very cheesy and others just felt icky, especially as this poetry collection was written by a man to women. It really gave "slay queen you're amazing xox". There were also a lot of poems of him basically going "I treat my women right! I'm such a good man when it comes to relationships" like ok?

What also didn't sit well with me is that the author made some "poems" about people disagreeing with him or being negative, saying they will never reach his potential and they don't understand. LOL. Just write better poetry, babes.

Anyway...this is not it. I'm so glad my tastes in poetry have evolved from when i was 17...

Soz if that was brutal...it's uterus shredding season

I was interested in picking up R.H. Sin after seeing several of their books dominate the small poetry section of my local bookstore. After reading Kupi Kaur I've been rightfully skeptical of the high praise and popularity of mainstream poetry books, and now I am even further deterred from picking one up again.
