R.h. Sin is one of the most beautiful writes I have come across, sometime his poems don't resonate, but overall they are one of the only writers that has ever been able to connect with me and understand me to my core

sorry but “just because you are kind to her doesn’t mean she owes you sex” broken into a couple lines is not a poem. what a waste of paper
Even if you don’t immediately recognize the name r.h. Sin, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with his work. His poetry has taken Instagram and the poetry world by storm, popularizing the writing form in a way that the world hasn’t seen in quite some time.
A Beautiful Composition of Broken is r.h. Sin’s sixth collection and serves as an ode to the beautifully broken. His words touch on women finding strength within themselves, the brokenhearted mending their wounds, and the insecure learning to find the confidence they’ve always had.
I had pretty mixed feelings about this collection. On one hand, it felt a little thrown together with no real order or true theme, aside from a few multi-part poems. There was a lot of repetition, and a lot of poems that were really just a few words separated by line breaks. On the other hand, there were several absolutely stellar poems that made me want to shout from the rooftops and tattoo the words across my entire body.
It was definitely worth it for the handful of phenomenal poems, but overall wasn’t my favorite collection.
3 stars.
Note: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Some things are very repetitive, but was much better than his last one I read.
Some poetry is simple. Some poetry is brief. Some poetry creates images in your mind that threaten never to leave. Some poetry packs a metaphorically powerful wallop, figuratively speaking, of course. Some poetry hits you so personally that you grunt aloud, highlight passages, reread line after line. Some poetry makes the reader feel like a mirror has been held up to their heart. Some poetry feels current, cool, contemporary. Some poetry echoes an age from long, long ago.
Some poetry can do some of these things; most poetry cannot. A BEAUTIFUL COMPOSITION OF BROKEN does them all.

I think for me whiskey words and a shovel was really hard to beat. The words in that book resonated so deep with me. This was great don’t get me wrong, but as a person who isn’t suffering from heart break it didn’t hit home as hard as the former. I love this author however and will continue to read and support his works.

460 pages of boring, repetitive and honestly bad poetry… some parts were good but overall a really disappointing read
