took me a while to finish it bc i never seemed to pick it up, i love how simple everyday life is described in japanese novels but here i think it didn't appeal to me that much, nothing much happens tbh but i wanted to finish it to see what would happen between hitomi and takeo

A sweet story of a young woman who works at a thrift shop, its owner and his sister, and a young man who drives the shop truck.
A Tôkyô, la brocante Nakano n'est pas un repaire d'objets chers, mais plutôt originaux et incongrus, comme parfois les clients qui la fréquentent. Son propriétaire a un penchant très prononcé pour le sexe féminin, sa sœur Masayo fabrique des poupées, les jeunes Hitomi et Takeo viennent les aider. La boutique est comme une roue de la vie où se croisent, s'aiment et s'échangent les personnages, au gré de leurs attirances et de leur fantaisie. Avec délicatesse et sensualité, Kawakami évoque ces liens mystérieux qui se nouent entre les êtres, où l'on feint de jouer son amour aux dés et de prendre à la légère ce qui vous remue le cœur. Son roman résonne de mille petits bonheurs qui entrent en correspondance avec les hasards de la vie. Et le son qu'il en tire est léger et clair, telle la coupe offerte de la vie.
I have fallen into a bit of a reading slump and this book just isn’t keeping my attention. It’s not bad by any means, I’m just not very invested
A beautiful story, even though there is not that much plot per se. The characters are a little quirky and funny, the whole book flows nicely. If only there was more books like this translated to English!
