I love Japanese literature, especially where nothing really happens but this book drug on and on about nothing. It had its moments but was not very engaging or interesting.

I liked this book. It was a really easy and light read. It didn’t have much of a plot but it had a cute but subtle love story and a very comforting look at relationships. Reminds me of “Never Let Me Go” as it was almost like a “lazy river” for reading. Very good writing.

Damn! I can't like a book without a story :(

Absolutely beautiful slice of life novel. The story is so simple in it's presentation, a Japanese thrift store and the interactions that happen within it. The writing is beautiful and each character is so vivid and lifelike each leaving their own distinct impression. I especially was compelled by the romantic subplot, I've never read anything quiet like it before. It managed to be both realistic and special. It took me a few days to work through this one and I was sad to finally have to finish it. I will be reading this one again. 5 stars.

This one was just a bit too weird for me. Halting chapters and sentences. People too awkward to function. I liked the last 2 chapters best, where the main characters become a bit less awkward in society, which I thought was telling.
I'm sure someone could love this book and its awkwardness and shyness and strange situations, but for me I felt it overshot the target a bit.

as a fan of slice of life.... i enjoyed relaxing with this charming and funny little book. as the kids say just vibing. all the characters crack me up with their little quips and quirks. you know what i mean? lol
