I loved this book! He is an excellent story teller and his writing style forces you to think - really think.

I miss [a:Charles Krauthammer|300181|Charles Krauthammer|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1370478680p2/300181.jpg] as a panelist on Fox News Channel. He provided substantive and smart analysis of world events and was obviously a very smart guy.

He was a widely published journalist/columnist, and [b:Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics|17345217|Things That Matter Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics|Charles Krauthammer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1375397727l/17345217._SX50_.jpg|24084413] is a great collection of his writings over the three decades of the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. Krauthammer wrote a little bit about everything - all of it was pithy and interesting. What I found most interesting while reading, is while Krauthammer was undoubtedly a conservative voice, his personal beliefs in certain areas opposed typical conservative views. His views and thoughts were unique, and I didn’t completely agree with everything he wrote about but it is all thought provoking and his arguments were very well thought out and presented.

5 stars

conservative views often annoy me. this one just read wrong for me.

I was disappointed that much of these are older articles and not an entirely new piece of work, but the writing is so great that, whether you agree with what he says or not, you can't help but be impressed. A truly smart man.

Gave the book to a friend who never returned it.

This book is a compilation of Krauthammer's columns. It has a little bit of everything from the Soviet Union, cloning and personal life stories. The personal ones were my favorite, especially the one about his brother.

Though some of the articles were dated, I always enjoy hearing what Dr. Krauthammer has to say.

Dr. Krauthammer covered 3 decades of US history that I lived through though much of it I hadn't paid much attention to politics so his book proved to be a "refresher" in recent history.

Interesting perspective on issues even when I disagree with him. However, many subjects/columns, I just didn't care to read - therefore the 3 stars.
