Just seems to lack some of the passion and fervor that TR's Progressive campaign brought.

An instructional summary of the large and small figures and events involved in American politics leading up to (and resulting from) the election of 1912. The book focuses not on the bigger events (WW I), but the ideologies and domestic politics. As a result many interesting historical subjects are mentioned but only touched on briefly.

A nice overview of the 1912 election. I'm pleased the author gave equal time to each of the four major candidates (Wilson, Roosevelt, Debs, and Taft). He also treated each fairly in his assessment. I do think the last 30 pages or so were not needed--a brief rundown of the Wilson years.
