It's everything it should be.

I will start off by saying that I enjoyed this book even though there were many problems with it.

The main problem with this is just how fast paced and time jumpy it is in the first 50% of the book. The author doesn't take the time to let you connect with the characters as they aren't even the main focus of the story until the last half of the book.

Another thing was the CIA/SVR jargin that was hard to understand. I had to look up so many times what they were talking about and where they were because the author doesn't explain anything very well including locations and expects you to know them automatically.

The last disappointment would be the ending. It was very predictable.

Overall the book is a good spy read if you are into this type of genre even though it has many, many flaws. Hopefully the sequels are better. This book had a good idea and plot but the execution was fairly bland and dissapointing. 3.2 out of 5 stars (rounded down to 3)

Don't watch the movie, which doesn't resemble the book in any way.

The plot lost itself at some point, one of the rare instances where the film is better than the book

promising story but slow-paced with boring and unnecessary stuff that made me finish it for almost a week. The 2nd half of the book is more intriguing and with more action

Wciągająca, dobrze napisana historia szpiegowska. Lepsza niż film.

This is the first book in a trilogy. First I tried listening to the audio book. Don't do that. It put me right to sleep. The speaker uses one tone. I had to read the book to finally get into it. I enjoyed that during each chapter someone was eating a meal and at the end of the chapter was that recipe. I also watched the movie and there are some differences between the book and the movie. I will be reading the other two books to find out what happens to the Red Sparrow.
