You thought Uncle Monty met his end quickly? Aunt Josephine "disappears" only 30% of the way into the book, more or less.
We're only three guardians in, and the way they're related to the Baudelaires is getting vaguer and vaguer with every passing one. Aunt Josephine may be the one I feel for the most, because she's got some pretty severe PTSD and is absolutely, certainly, not ready for being the guardian of three growing children. All the same, I still place the blame on Mr. Poe.
Want to guess how long the kids are with Aunt Josephine? By the way I'm counting, they're only in the house for about three days (maybe as short as two days) beforeAunt Josephine fakes her death and the Baudelaires go out on their rescue mission. They get there, the cab driver tells them a hurricane is coming, so either the same day or the next day they walk into town, and in town they meet Captain Sham. That night Captain Sham calls Aunt Josephine on the phone, gets to the house, and forces her to write her suicide note. By the end of that same day, Josephine is actually dead and the Baudelaires are pleading with Mr. Poe to recognize that it is Count Olaf that is pretending to be Captain Sham.
Again, the kids don't go to school, but at least Josephine has a library, right? For all the good that did her.

En pleine relecture de cette série que j'adore, je ne peux que la recommander ! Beaucoup de différences avec la série Netflix pour ce tome, j'avais oublié 😱
Graphic: Murder, Mental illness, and Suicide attempt
