Una mujer descendiente del pueblo caribe reflexiona sobre su vida y las consecuencias que en ella tuvo el hecho de que su madre muriera mientras daba a luz.

Me gustó la forma orgullosa que tenía la protagonista para narrar: tuvo una vida difícil, sin embargo no era una víctima ni buscaba la compasión de los lectores en su relato. Mi único “pero” es que a ratos me parecía muy recursiva esta idea de la madre muerta.

Love Jamaica Kincaid but this one got a bit repetitive, so I would recommend Lucy over this. Beautifully written and some sentences feel like getting punched in a good way.
