Unlikeable characters and a story that drags on forever and is profoundly unsatisfying. If you happened to be sitting in a Dresden tram last evening and saw someone repeatedly letting out exasperated sighs and eyerolling while forcing herself to read through the last 50-100 pages of a book: that was me.

Doesn’t matter how great the time/setting is, it’s still a story of two boring people in a pedophilloic relationship.

A challenging read, densely packed with cultural references, it was hard to absorb these and stay connected to the characters.

This book was so boring it made me not believe in fiction. But it did inspire me to start my theory and philosophy reading era .

Hans is the worst. But I really enjoyed how the author wrote about someone in the East would talk about the West. Especially after the wall fell.
