I felt like I was reading under the mountain again only instead of slugs it was cockroaches. Still enjoyed it and couldn't put it down but was never sure if it was a horror story or a mystery.

I loved The Chalk Man and was expecting something similar from this book. However this book is possibly even darker, and has supernatural elements which I thought C.J. Tudor did a great job of integrating without it becoming too much.

The book starts off a little slow (after the shocking opener) as the story is set up and we get to know more about Joe and his past. There are some really creepy moments, and I thought the ending was great even though I am left with a number of questions!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

This one confused me a little. I had expected it to be a psychological thriller but seems more like a horror? I also feel like a lot of stuff was touched on and then not properly "connected"...and what exactly was there in the cave? Not a bad book at all but it left me with more questions than answers.

Didn’t realize his books for horror/ supernatural aspect so I was caught off guard.
