Okay Matt may be my new favorite book boyfriend!! This friends to lovers romance is just so sweet how they bond through him helping her make a school bus into a tiny house and they get closer to each other. Not only am I picturing Matt as a younger Jason Mamoa, but he is just so kind and loving and I want to move in with his adorable family! Lane is also cool, haha.

This was a cute book! Not my fave HBY but still a fun read. Usually friends-to-lovers isn’t something I gravitate towards but I really enjoyed the cast of characters.

Hannah's books have something that  make you feel so much, that even if there's some hard parts at the end they make you feel like being snuggle by a cozy blanket on a rainy day

I really enjoyed this story overall, I went expecting a pretty light-hearted romance, but it was quite an emotional rollercoaster. The characters were easy to like and I especially loved that Hannah Bonam-Young took the time to really flesh out the families of the MMC/FMC as well.

I wish the story had spent a bit more time with the bus, I think it would have been interesting to have some more scenes involving the renovation. I also felt that the first 20-30% of the book moved quite slowly, and I struggled to get into the plot. However, after this, it really picked up, and I whizzed through the last half in less than a day.

** Thank you to the publisher for the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own. **

Taylor Swift songs: “Champagne problems”, “you are in love (tv)”

Age rating: 17+ (4 spicy scenes, 1.5/5🌶️)

THIS BOOK OMG. I’m at odds for which is my favorite HBY book between this one and “Out on a limb” because I love them so much!!! This was such a great emotional friends-to-lovers romance with such a good MMC, like I love this man with my whole heart. I love the representation with the FMC being pansexual, agoraphobic, and having anxiety! She is such a relatable character. And BIG dad bod appreciation with Matt, the 6’3” ish Samoan teddy bear. Matt is the definition of he falls first and falls harder like COME ON!!! If you want to read about a man who will live the FMC UNCONDITIONALLY and FIERCELY, read this book!!

I am a sucker for a grumpy FMC X sunshine MMC and this was everything.

There were so many parts in this that made me so emotional (please mind the trigger warnings!) but I loved it so much. It made my heart break and then ten times fuller!! Ugh, I cannot say enough great things about her books, for real!!!

To someone who is not familiar with Samoan culture, it seems like HBY did so much research to make Matt’s character and Matt’s whole family very authentic!

Trigger warnings: Major grief and PTSD discussion, death of parent, commitment issues, emotionally abusive and manipulative family members

Next to You was an adorable and entertaining story. I enjoyed reading Lane's character development and her journey towards healing. I love that Hannah placed a strong emphasis on getting therapy. Matt was the sweetest!! The happy dance scene was so cute 💓

I enjoyed this book! Lane and Matt have such a great bond. You immediately are rooting for them. Matt is the sweetest; he’s so thoughtful and kind. Lane is anxious and quite hard on herself. Even if readers don’t have anxiety they will be able to connect with her and find her to be relatable. While the multiple times jumps at the end felt a little unnecessary, it was nice seeing a glimpse into their future. This book is great for fans of BK Borrison or Chloe Liese.
