This was not a typical friends to lovers story but that’s what made it better than others. The characters are flawed but lovable and their relationship made me smile. It’s definitely spicy so look up chapters to skip if you need to. Read when you need a new book boyfriend.

Wow, this book is definitely my favorite that of this same author! It was so good. I really loved the two main characters and the relationship and just everything. It was just absolutely a great and wonderful read.

It is so rare for the ending of a book to improve the rating. I was not feeling the FMC but wow what a refreshing plot to show character growth at the end.

Next to You completely stole my heart. I’m not even kidding when I say it’s one of those books that feels like it sees you—like it understands the quiet, messy, vulnerable parts you don’t always talk about.
This book had everything I never thought I wanted in a romance book. It had real connection. The love story was beautiful, yes, but what really got me was the way the characters showed up for each other in both the big and small ways—how they carried each other through grief, fear, and change without trying to “fix” everything. It was tender, patient, and real.
I found myself getting emotional over the smallest scenes—because they weren’t just romance beats, they were moments of true friendship, respect, and unconditional care. It’s rare for a book to make me feel so safe while reading, but this one did.
By the time I turned the last page, I just sat there for a while, holding the book, feeling that bittersweet ache of having found something special and not wanting to let it go.
Hannah Bonam-Young has this gift of writing love that feels like home. And I’ll carry this one with me for a long time.
Glad this was my introduction to Hannah Bonam Young, cause I love a big man who is a gentle giant.
