This is the rare occurence where the second book was a lot better than the first book. So glad I decided to give this series another chance. I breezed through this one in no time at all. Was it the court intrigue? Was it the growing feelings between Wrath and Emilia? Not sure, but I was glued to the pages. Even though I was already spoiled by the series' wikia page, I still enjoyed the journey alongside our characters. You could skip the first book and start with this one without missing much lol.

The spice level was also dialed up in this book compared to the first one.

This book is a creeper. I enjoyed it when I read it. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about it, but I did initially give it 4/5 stars because it was just a TAD bit slower than KOTW to me.

However, since I initially read this book, I COULD NOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. Anytime I picked up another book, it was inadequate. I finally gave up and read KOTW and this book again AND NOW I'M EVEN MORE OBSESSED.

My friends are tired of my shit, but I'll recommend this series to anybody that will listen.

As this book has ruined my life and I cannot stop thinking about the cliffhanger, I feel like I have to elevate my rating to 5 stars. When book 3 is released I will call into work and block anybody that tries to message me that day.

Update after reread: I used a vacation day to stay home from work and read KOTF on release day. No Ragrets. Still liked this a lot

The mystery will grip you until the very last page, and then, BOOM! The story ends, and I'm like, "what?!" An unfinished story, if you ask me.

The hot romance made it all (yes, including those boring Emilia monologues) worth while.

Can't wait for the third book!

3.5 (Generously rounding up to 4) Stars!

The plot of this book is so good. However the curses and riddles were driving me crazy the whole time. There were some important parts that were really glossed over.
