Another wonderful book from Michael J. Sullivan. I love reading tales of Hadrian and Royce. Learning more about Gwen is a treat. This time we also learn how Hilfrid became Arista's bodyguard. I just want more, as usual!

These are the perfect books to read whenever but especially in a reading slump. I just couldn't stop reading. I can't decide if people should read the original series first or these books. Knowing how everything will eventually end but hoping for it to turn out differently is torture! But then again, I'm so attached to the characters now that I've read the Revelations that it might make me love Chronicles more. I don't know!

Good ole Gwen gave me an ugly cry, so now I have to give it 5 stars.
I love going back and seeing how Riyria all started. Royce was a very dangerous, and dark character in the beginning. He was also got in his own way a bit. I'm glad Sullivan gave Royce a TSTL moment so his character could grow.
It was great seeing Gwen and Hilfred's beginnings. I just want to grab all the characters hands and say, "See children? This is how it all started. Oh, don't worry, it gets worse."
