Phew... What a read (writing this soon after I finished it, I barely breathed during the last 100 pages)! It has a VERY slow (but still enjoyable!) start, taking its sweet time to set up the plot and characters, but once it all starts rolling, you can't stop turning pages!

I love the main characters so much! The way their friendship and loyalty was put to the test and how they developed through the story enduring it all - you would definitely want a friend like either of them in your life. Can't wait to jump to the next installment!

Thieves pretending to be swashbucklers, concurrent heists and two fantastic friends make this a very fun Gentleman Bastard adventure. I enjoyed this one thoroughly, it seemed pretty balanced between the flashback/current chapters and both were very interesting.

Following the bombastic introduction of Locke and Jean in the first book, Red Seas Under Red Skies places these characters in a foreign land with foreign rules.

Broke and alone they are placed exactly two-steps behind the world around them. It goes from casino heist to swashbuckling adventure and somehow managed to make me bawl within those parameters.

This series is a masterpiece in character writing and I spent my whole time reading purely excited to see how the characters react and what would happen next.

While this book felt like a departure from the original whimsy towards a darker tone, it still excelled in building Locke and Jeans relationship.

Excellent sequel! The epic duo’s adventure continues , just not as planned.. Once again , the most creative curses and insults I’ve ever heard! Adding pirates was a fun twist.

Can’t beat the first book , but this is definitely worth the read . Can’t wait to see where the story goes next

I felt a little disappointed at the ending. I can only assume that he is setting up for the 3rd book which will tie up all the loss ends. The writing in these books is good, his descriptions and scene setup are marvelous and his use of metaphor adds to the story. Great character development and dialogue as well. I just felt the ending was a bit rushed.
