The middle was rough with the pirate mini plot...

I really did enjoy this book, but no matter how much I enjoyed it, it isn't quite the Lies of Locke Lamora. But that isn't to say it isn't an incredible book and the world is still as unique and engaging as ever and Locke and Jean still have the same banter, but this one seems a little heavier somehow. There are less flashbacks, which I didn't think I'd miss but somehow did. But if you like strong female characters, Drakasha and Ezri are the ones. Also there are kittens

“Things can change, and improve. We’ve seen it happen to other people.”

‘With what? One stiletto and hurtful insinuations about their mothers?’”

“‘Gentlemen, I have appreciated your stimulating company,’ said Madam Durenna in a tone of voice that indicated she hadn’t.”

Another fantastic book! Looking forward to reading the next in the series. I think the plot was a little bit weaker than in the first book but that might be a result of my reading habits.

Years ago, when I was watching Sense8, I did something really stupid. I unknowingly watched the entire second season thinking it was the first. As you can imagine, watching the first season afterward didn’t pack the punch it was supposed to.

Guess what? I made a similar mistake with these books.

I laughed out loud with this one. You can’t help but love the characters. It does at time feel nothing is going to go right. Can be on the edge of your seat.

The second volume of the Gentleman Bastard left in awe. Not expecting some turns, some deaths, the ending... Really liked what i have read. Drakasha and Ezri were very cool characters, loved them both. Really liked Lockes opening up and Jean doings in this book. Can't wait for the next one (hell, i'm reading the next one as soon i finish this review). Recomend a lot this series - Heists and thieves in a fantasy world (with lots of swearing, some fucking, lots of killing).
