I did not enjoy this one nearly as much as I did the first book in the series. For one thing, this book was a good 200 pages too long. Endless scenes filled with ancient sailing terminology getting us absolutely nothing in terms of plot or character development. For another, the joy of the first book was the intelligence and wit of the main character, and through nearly all of this book he's just a hapless victim of circumstances. Very tiresome. I will start the third book, but it is 100 pages longer still--if it is equally tiresome, I will give it up.

MY HEART. wow. i wasn't expecting to be ripped apart. once again i must remind myself not to get attached to any characters. my fave out of the series so far because i loved that it took place on a ship and we got to see them basically turn into pirates! loved the high seas and adventure in this one.

A fantastic sequel to what was a fantastic first book, it kept the humour and wit of the first as well as the high stakes and emotional moments. This is a brilliant heist book with plenty of twists, sond that you can see coming and some that you don't. You don't feel like any of the main characters are safe which is refreshing in these kind of books.
