I loved this book when I read it for the first time, it is an immersive fairy tale of the story looking at both sides of the coin and an interesting look into both pros and cons of both sides of a story and a look at traditional beauty conceptions.

I loved it. There were a lot of unexpected plot lines and great character development. It was amazing!

I really enjoyed this book... until I got to the end. The end was just so messy. Big disappointment.

okay i have THOUGHTS about this book
yes i know its for children so like,, i do keep that in mind but... anyways! (lots of spoilers ahead)

first of all i just find it rather odd that the ugly characters were all evil and the pretty characters were all good, and i originally brushed this off bc i thought Agatha and Sophie were going to kind of break this stereotype and show looks dont indicate someones personality but when sophie was at her most evil she turned ugly/old overnight and Agatha became beautiful, albeit with makeup and not much of a physical change. that jus rubbed me the wrong way ! i know that at the end when sophie is revived she is beautiful again but that not at the height of her villiany its after her redemption so like,,, doesnt rlly show that ugly =\= evil and pretty =\= good

nextt is the character development, the first like 80% of the book was honestly pretty good in this way i felt like you were slowly seeing their good and bad traits and while it was predictable, it was still enjoyable and felt more natural. towards the end though their personality changes felt very rushed / forced, i know that this isnt exactly impossible or improbable people have breakdowns and major personality changes ALLL the time but in books it does just feel rushed and like a loss of potential
FINALLYY the ending rlly got me okay "agatha.. i love you" AND THEN SHE DIES AND AGATHA KISSES HER AND SHE REVIVES ??? oh i was dying DYING I SAY but then she says smth abt good and evil being friends and i was like okay nvm theyre not gay WASTED POTENTIAL but its fine...
