This is the second book in the Emily Ellis Thrillers series. While I liked the first book (Paint by Murders) "better", Paper Machete was still a good read.

It's heavy on the cult side of things, which isn't really my jam. Like the previous book, it is well written, with good character development. (I like Mills. Noland, however, is a d!ck. But good books often have unlikable characters.)

I'll definitely be reading the third book of the trilogy. It's been creepy, twisty, and well written. Got to see how it ends!

Truly appreciate the opportunity to read the ARC! (Advance Reader Copy)

Book one really caught my attention and while it wasn’t my usual genre was excited to read book two. The cult aspect was interesting and I could tell there was research that had gone into it. I am looking forward to the next book to see what Mills gets up to next and if you want an interesting and fast read definitely pick it up!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily, all thoughts/opinions above are my own!

Arc review:

This is book number 2 in the Emily Ellis thriller series. I enjoyed that where book 1 ended book 2 picked right back up.

The different pov were very good. I still don’t like noland i think he’s gross. And I’m not sad about what happened to him at the end.

This second book is very heavy on the cult life so if that is a trigger please be weary. I do feel that the author did the cult justice and it shows she put a lot of effort and research into it to make it as authentic as possible.

This book did lose the thriller aspect that i loved in book 1 but it moved the story along in a great way.

I was going to give 3 stars but the last chapter which was in starks only pov for this book made it go to a four star.

Thank you so much Amanda for the opportunity to read an advanced ebook
