I really had to take some time to think about this.
Was it the best book I've ever read? No. But it was a enjoyable read more so than many other books.
But I also think this story could have been so much more. Especially the ending wasn't as satisfying as it could have been.
Yes the characters are a bunch of pricks and one is less pleasent than the other. But that's what drives this story. They are unlikeable but the story needs it that way and honestly it makes it only more interesting.
The story is told on multiple timelines. At times that gets a little confusing but it's important for the story to stay interesting and keep progressing forward.
There is actually no real connection to an knife as the title teasers on but rather a pair of scissors is used to commit the murder
I've read the that the author thinks that it was a metaphorical choices made by the publishers because knife sounds better.
All in all it was a good but not fully satisfying read. There was potential for more. With this setting it could have been a really outstanding thiller book if only the plot was a little less predictable and unique.

So I'm like a year late to the party with this one, but better late than never. I was so scared that this wasn't going to live up to my expectations and yet it exceeds them all. I love morally ambiguous characters and this book is chock full of them, down to the main character who is at once intriguing and insufferable.
My experience with this book was strange because I read the first 140 pages on Friday, then I didn't read for most of the weekend, and then read the rest of it in one sitting on Sunday night. Before I even knew that I'd been sitting there reading it for that long, it was nearly 4am, and I needed to know what happened with this shady ass group of friends. I was so entranced by the drama of it all - and the dual timelines were CRAZYYYY well done. This book read like a movie. I fucking loved it. I saw none of the twists coming but in retrospect they were right in front of me the whole time.
Anyway this is your sign to pick this up if you haven't already and are late to the party like me.
