While Sansom maintains his habit of ending all his books in a similar manner, the stories set in London seem so much more action packed and tense than stories set outside of the city. Perhaps it's the travels across the city, the recurring characters and the depth they bring, or the politics that being in the capital brings but it shifts the story more towards thriller than mystery, making it a little more enjoyable for me.

The one thing that frustrates me with these full-cast dramatisations is that they are very much abridged. I wish there was a little more room in them for the characters to breathe, to immerse in the Tudor setting.
That'd be more expensive of course but it would be nice.

This book in particular suffers because there is a certain number of murders that need to take place and none of them are skippable, so everything else (which is mostly characterisation that ties the series together) has to take a backseat to the main plot.

Anyway, for this book I went the wrong way around. For this book, listen to this drama first, then go read the book in an unabridged format.
