Revelation

C.J. Sansom

I had a really hard time getting into this book. Plus there’s a huge pointer at the beginning that eventually leads to the murderer.

Still, I like the characters of Matthew and Barak and the historical detail is interesting. Hopefully Book 5 will be better.

Another excellent piece of historical fiction with a so-so mystery at its heart. I figured out the culprit far too soon, and I’m not a big fan of the masterful serial killer trope, but I still loved being immersed in 1543. Aside from that, this edition certainly needed some editing. There was even more repetition here than the earlier books.

This series is well worth reading. These are historical fiction set in the time of King Henry VIII. The series begins with the dissolution of the monasteries and Revelation is set as Henry is getting ready to marry Catherine Parr though we don't see much of either of them. Rather it is a study of the effects of the reformation. I am still thinking about it.

I love the Shardlake series. Thought I knew who the killer was but Sansome surprised me. Always enjoyable reads.

I absolutely adore this book. It is my favorite in the series and one of my favorite books of all time.
I just love how much action there is in this one. The series of murders is excellent and just keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I've already read this book twice before and reading it knowing who the murderer is is just as fun as not knowing, the culprit is so well written. I even gasped when we find out who it is and I knew all along!
Can't get enough of Shardlake, I just have to keep re-reading the series!

Liked the main character, but I spent a lot of time being irritated. Book did not need to be so long, tension was dragged out to an almost ridiculous degree. Well done from a historical perspective. But I got tired of the Bible quoting. YOu can see I had very mixed feelings...good author but like so many, NEEDS EDITING!
