I have loved all of the books in this series so it’s not really a big surprise that I liked this one. The details and the clearly thorough research raise it from an acceptable murder mystery to an excellent one. Adding in the historical element just makes it all the better. It’s set in the time where Henry VIII is on his last legs (so to speak) after the execution of Catherine Howard and before he marries Catherine Parr; a time where religious fears and persecutions were rife. Although the person who turned out to be the killer was on my radar, I was not sure that the person was the one until pretty near to the end and that is great because I have a knack of guessing the killer early on and then getting bored when it all subsequently unfolds. I will read the rest of the book/s in the series. I know there’s at least one more. I recommend starting the series from the beginning.
