Hmmmm.
I liked it. I thought the cliche "sexy powerful woman everyone is attracted to" character was tedious. Also I thought her name was Theresa for the entire book and it wasn't until I read the synopsis on Goodreads that I realized it was "Parisa". Which doesn't change my opinion of her, I just thought it was funny because my own name has been confused for Theresa on at least one occassion...
Libby was the worst. And I hated the non-ending.
But I did like that Ezra's involvement was revealed slowly, that the author didn't just spring that on us at the end out of nowhere.
The magic didn't make a lot of sense and honestly we didn't get to see a lot of it. But I'll still read the sequel whenever it comes out, assuming I remember.

not a single one of them is heterosexual, i will not hear any arguments otherwise
this was super fun if a little confusing at times and the ending was very abrupt
i am looking forward to reading the rest of the series as i am very intrigued
i liked the writing and characterisation as well as the world building however i feel like i'm going to forget a lot of the magic rules as so many were revealed… i guess we’ll see how much i retain when i read book two

Hated every moment. The ending was boring and left so much to be desired. Don't pick up this book unless you want to be put into a reading slump.
I’m not sure if this was a disappointment for me because the writing style was odd, or if the story just wasn’t interesting. Everything was just off, and I felt no connection to any of the characters. There really were no stakes in ways that matter, and the plot just seemed unimportant. My feelings on this are very unfortunate, because the concept is interesting and the cover is cool, but it just wasn’t for me.
