This book really challenged me to think about survival. I don’t often do that. The poetry of this book made it more deeply affecting and stirred up emotions more quickly than I have experienced with fiction written in prose. I was rooting for Maddy the whole book and was in awe of her stamina when dealing with the many struggles she came up against. It wasn’t just she was strong and able, but she really battled through some of the toughest emotions a human can face and still made it out on top.
