I do love a good Vampire book and this book is fantastic.

Sofia Claremont was kidnapped on her seventeenth birthday. Kidnapped from the beach by her friends house and she is now stuck in a nightmare. She is taken to a island where the sun never shines. The island is ruled by vampires and she is now a slave to the vampires.

Sofia is delivered to Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince. She is to be part of Derek's harem. She needs to win Derek over to protect herself.

Will she succeed ? Or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novak?

I would recommend this book.

Clunky, zero character development, predictable and a spoon feeding of motivates and emotions. I'm never of fan of authors who tell instead of show. At least it was short.

I knew what I was getting myself into when I started this book; I was prepared for another cliche YA vampire novel. That being understood, the characters were much more likable than I was expecting, the barely there plot was tolerable, and the romance (while slightly less than believable) wasn't heinous. I do find myself rooting for the vampire suitor, and look forward to finding out more about the universe.

I had been suggested this book series I wasn't sure what I was expecting from this book but not definitely what I got I didn't think I was going to fall in love with the characters so fast with such a long series but I ended up falling in love with them and I love their story even if its a very slow burn it's going to be good to watch it grow over the series.

Nope.... Noppeeee

Dnf: 60%

Did i ask for twilight? No. Did i get it? yes i did.

Did i ask for insta love? NO. Did i get it? yes i did

I wanted a dark novel about vampires and i was really curies about her mother from the prologue but i just couldn't get past the weird cliche romance.

Loved it , might have spoilers

I loved reading this book, the reviews before reading this was got and miss but I found I loved reading this the book has unexpecting twists and didn't find they fell in love quick but they did because he was different and his actions spoke volumes to her

DNF at 77% because I realized they had too many books in the series. I prefer stand alones or no more than 3 in a series. It was very good though when I decided to stop.

I'd been given this book a while ago. It took me a lot to really start it because it was something I wasn't really into at first. It took me a long time to get off the ground, but I actually ended up being something I couldn't put down. The Shade, a vampire sanctuary, was something so original and interesting. And then there are the politics in the vampire society and the little twists and turns. The end made me wish i had the second book at hand.

A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed A Shade of Vampire a lot. Yes there are the inevitable comparisons, but Twilight wasn’t the first teen vampa romance and I’m sure it won’t be the last. I liked the idea of Forrest’ hideaway island, which on one hand is all very romantic, but on the other totally helps with the creep factor of Sophia not being able to escape after being kidnapped.

I thought the use of alternating POV chapters was a great idea; I love being let into the thoughts of characters. Sometimes it’s exactly what you need to get that little extra on them. I hope we get some more insight to other characters in the next book.

A few other reviews have boo’d the ‘instalove’, but I don’t mind it, sometimes you meet someone and you just click, game over - you get each other. I don’t think Sophia and Derek loved each other straight away, but there was a connection, which turned to love. I’m sure that’ll get explored more in the next book – which I’m going to have to get so I can find out what happens. I hate me some cliffhanger – so it’s a good thing book 2 & 3 are ready to go!! This was quite fast paced, which I enjoyed, I liked Sophia, Derek and Vivienne as characters, although I’ve got a feeling that when I finally meet Papa Novak, I’m not going to like him much. I have soft spot for Lucas, I’m hoping he’ll redeem himself as the story unfolds, because even though I did love Derek and his tortured vampire, I do like me some bad boy (although a little less stabby would be nice).

I remember reading this on a whim...I am a sucker for vampire stories, especially when they get all in the love interest of a human...cannot help myself...I like this story and it was set up well and sucked me in...I had to move on to the next couple of books...I have not yet gotten through the 99 books, I believe it is, as the first ones were very cheap and free and now I would have to purchase them all at a higher cost and I am not sure if I am quite that invested...
