So one of my best friends recommended this book to me because she has spent the last month and half reading all 30 something books in the series and has become completely and utterly addicted. After her begging and pleading, I finally decided it was time to put her out of her misery and read it. As I write this review from work all I really have to say is you should read this book. I had concerns going in (kidnappy based love stories usually freak me out), but I really think the author handled the entire situation very well. (Hell they actually discussed respect in relationships, who knew?) I really enjoyed the story and the characters, and I can’t wait to read what comes next.

it's almost childish. kind of like a odd version of twilight. better written, but still just as weirdly irritating.

This was so much fun! I flew through this book in a day, I couldn’t put it down. I would describe this as a guilty pleasure sort of read. It’s not a masterpiece but I think it’s going to be the start of a very fun series to binge. I already have book 2 on my kindle ready to start tomorrow!

It was a bit quick but wasn't terribly written so I might read the next one.

1st I'd like to thank Bella for giving me the opportunity to read this awesome book !
I couldn't put it down ,I read it all in 1 sitting ! Ah Derek how noble a vampire and Sophia is a very strong human ! I cannot wait to see where their story leads and how it unfolds with all the Lucas drama ! To be kidnapped by a vampire such as Lucas only to have Derek as her saviour !

Sophia is kidnapped on her 17th birthday. What ensues has all the stock makings up a teen vampire book. Derek, a vampire prince, is instantly in love with Sophia. He also struggles with seeing vampires and blood drinking as evil. Sophia is a human torn between her disgust for what Derek is and affection for the person he is around her. These aspects should make this book feel boring and predictable. It didn't, thanks in large part to the world building Forrest does. We get a glimpse into the history of the vampire community that live in The Shade. There is also the hint of a coming war with vampire hunters to look forward to in future books. All in all this book was good, but it may be setting the stage for some excellent books in the future, especially with the cliffhanger ending opening up lots of possibilities.

It had a slow beginning for me but I could feel their relationship grow.

Reread this on audio after my original read when this first came out... feeling very meh about it to be honest.

A quick, easy read! A gift from Grace in a book swap thing. I'm digging the storyline already.. but kind of a cliffhanger! it was sweet and romantic and lighthearted for being a story about a girl kidnapped by vampires! I'm ready for more! I hope they are all easy to read like this one was! then I can catch up quick! HOW many books?! haha.
