This was so good. A low fantasy world with political intrigue and not a lot of action but so enjoyable. It wasn't too slow and the ending was great. I'm glad there is another book in this world.

I was not the biggest fan of the audiobook's narrator, but tbh, that part doesn't surprise me. I will say, for all that I didn't personally like him as a narrator, he WAS a great choice as one. He really encapsulates the main character. Older male narrators just have the unfortunate habit of nearly putting me to sleep.

Other than that, this book was wonderful! Chant was a great character. Rowland didn't pull her punches with him. He's honestly a total asshole, and is very unrepentant about it all. He's hilarious and offensive and somehow still manages to come around the other side to sweet. All in all, I enjoyed it. Might try the sequel as a physical copy instead of an audiobook and see which way I like it better.
