A classic, depressing but classic. Read this for (and at the end of) my class on Precolonial Africa which really helped me understand the cultural specifics and with that it’s a powerful story.

Really provocative portrayal of a tragic hero story. The world building is detailed and interesting.  The last chapter was a work of genius.
