A nice little book that provides Four’s side of the story. It’s a must-read for fans of Divergent and it’s neat to see how the story might have turned out if Tobias was the protagonist. I was annoyed with how many times Tris was described as a “sMoL fRaGiLe bEaN”. Please, Veronica Roth, no.

The premise of this book is simple: Divergent from Four’s perspective. This meant that even with his backstory, you sort of knew what was going to happen. But it was still enjoyable and detailed. The only ‘problem’ I have with it is the scenes Roth decided to tell from Four’s perspective (meaning the 3 scenes at the end of the book, not in The Traitor). Maybe they have a deeper meaning but they just seemed like really random scenes to choose and I would have liked to see more/different scenes. But really, I can’t complain. This is a really cool idea for a book and was really interesting to read.

It’s been a while since I read the saga so I’m not sure it isn’t repetitive. That said, I found Four’s character very interesting, very real. He’s just a boy that’s finding out what kind of person does he want to be. That is until we get to the Divergent book part. He turns from a real living person to the perfect love interest’s shell. He empties a bit.
Still had a lot of fun reading. Def a nice fan service type of book.
