This is a very original story, but it definitely left me feeling a bit WTF is happening 😬

In the current political climate, reading about a police force abducting people who don’t confirm or random things (like books) disappearing to control societal narratives was pretty confronting but compelling.

Overall, I loved the concept but felt a little disjointed and hard to understand how things were collectively “disappearing”.

que loucura! é muito bom. tanto o final da narrativa que a protagonista estava escrevendo quanto o final do livro em si foi muito bem conduzido!!

This would've been a 6-star short story.

Great analogy. Especially in our current times. Forgetting is to be untethered from the past, missing the similarities that link historic atrocities to the present. The “disappearances” in the book are not even truly physical, just mental and emotional, as the disappeared items in question still remain in tact. Much like a lot of history that very much occurred (i.e. the patterns that led to the rise in fascism, the realities of slavery), but humankind has tried to suppress, and while evidence remains, human acceptance of this new way of thinking takes over.
