Loved the story and overall message. Will note that it did get a little abstract in the end. Ogawa’s beautiful, descriptive storytelling is the highlight here.

“I doubt the changes seem as great to us as they do to you. We shrug them off with as little fuss as possible and make do with what’s left. Just as we always have.” 

This is a frightening story about the slow creep of repression and the people who let themselves be swallowed up by it. A true horror story for our times!
