mysterious sad slow-paced

I felt like something was missing. The ideas and world in itself were very interesting but at some point it started being not all that enjoyable to read, I was expecting more in the last 3rd of the book and got less.

to me, this is an interesting look at preemptive compliance and cognitive dissonance, how refusal to fight against fascism and the scary realities that come along with it lead us to be cut off from our humanity. i liked how memory seemed to serve as a sixth sense in this book, with an emphasis on the things characters could touch and see and how those senses connected them to each other. however, without that sixth sense of memory, there always seemed to be a block in the way of true understanding and fulfillment.

I really enjoyed the way things were described. This was a very thoughtful book, with a very relevant message.
